Laughing Falls

The Cherokees called this cascade “Laughing Waters”, and it is said that if you listen carefully, you might hear laughter from the creek. The South Prong of Turkey Creek cascades some 50 feet here in a densely packed rhododendron thicket.


Directions to the falls:
  1. From Brevard, drive north on HWY 276 for approximately 2 to 3 miles.
  2. HWY 276 will turn to the left and N.C. 280 will continue on straight.
  3. Stay on N.C. 280 for 0.7 mile and turn left onto Old N.C. 280.
  4. Drive for approximately 0.15 mile and turn left on S.R. 1360.
  5. Drive for 0.7 mile to where the road dead-ends at a parking area.
  6. Walk up the right fork in the road and immediately ford the South Prong of Turkey Creek.
  7. Follow the road on the immediate left upstream to the falls.
